T-Head Releases the Most Powerful RISC-V Processor, the XuanTie 910, With Half the Cost of Other High-Performance Chips

On July 25, T-Head, Alibaba's semiconductor subsidiary, officially launched XuanTie910, the industry's most powerful RISC-V processor.
The XuanTie 910 can be used to design and manufacture high-performance terminal chips, for 5G, AI and autonomous driving applications.
In the novel XuanTie Sword by Jin Yong, a famous Chinese author, the XuanTie Swordwas the first sword in the world. Weighing in at 32kg, this sword was initially wielded by the character Dugu Qiubai. On it were the carved characters Zhong Jian Wu Feng, Da Qiao Bu Gong (success emerges from skill). Later, the sword was melted and made into the Yitian Sword and Tulong Knife by Guo Jing and his wife.
XuanTie 910 is the IP core of the CPU and the key driver of the chip.
The meaning of XuanTie coincides perfectly with its role in the chip industry.
In terms of performance, XuanTie 910 supports 16 cores, with a single-core performance of 7.1 Coremark/MHz and a clock speed of 2.5 GHz, which is more than 40% better than the best RISC-V processor in the industry.
The breakthrough in performance achieved by XuanTie 910 is the result of two major technological innovations. First, it utilizes a complex 3-issue, 8-execution out-of-order execution architecture, and is the first RISC-V processor that achieves two memory accesses per cycle in the industry. Second, it has created more than 50 instructions based on RISC-V, systematically enhancing the computing, storage and multi-core capabilities of the RISC-V design.
XuanTie 910 will greatly reduce the design and manufacturing cost of High-Performance terminal chips.
In the future, using this processor in the fields of 5G, AI, network communication and autonomous driving can more than double the performance of chips and reduce the cost by more than half.
Different from the PC and mobile Internet eras, chip application scenarios in the AIoT era are more diverse, and enterprises need chips that can achieve quick commercial application. The RISC-V architecture is open, flexible and requires low power, and is considered one of the core chip architectures in AIoT scenarios.
In order to further reduce the price threshold of chip design and accelerate industrial innovation, T-Head also issued a call to action at the launch, inviting mass production enterprises and university scientific research institutions to join them in creating benchmark projects. It also announced an inclusive chip plan.
In the future, T-Head will fully open up XuanTie 910 IP Core. Developers around the world can download the FPGA code of this processor for free, and carry out chip prototype design and architecture innovation immediately. Furthermore, T-Head has also built a domain-specific SoC, which provides hardware and software resources including CPU IP, SoC platform and algorithm, and provides enterprises and developers with different levels of chip services for different AIoT scenarios.
